What Is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga therapy involves working with clients one-on-one to help them help themselves with various chronic conditions such as anxiety, depression, pain, insomnia, autoimmune disorder symptoms and more, using technique such as asanas, pranayama, and meditation.  Evidence from latest research shows this therapy shows improvements in people with various chronic conditions.

Here we use an assessment system unique to Yoga Therapy.

I recently got certified as a Yoga therapist under guidance of Brandt Passalacqua at the Breathing Deeply Foundation. I will combine this newly acquired skills, with my nursing background as a RN, working with you to help you help yourself with various chronic conditions such as depression, anxiety, insomnia and relief from the complex day-today life.

Yoga practice will help manage physical and mental stress associated with:

-Chronic pain and fatigue
-Stresses arising from complex daily routines
-Conditions from arthritis, to lower back pain, to physical health, mental health, depression, spiritual connection and many more

Yoga therapy may help you nurture and enhance the physical, emotional, psychological, social, and spiritual well-being.

One-on-one sessions and training with Doshic and Koshic lens and using techniques such as Asana, Pranmayama and Meditation.

What Is Yoga for Cancer?

Yoga for cancer (Y4C) was founded by Tari Prinster, who herself is a cancer survivor.  Tari created this wonderful program using Vinyasa principles with movement and breath. Vinyasa is a style of yoga that teaches one to move with your breath from one posture to another, like in a smooth flow.    

This yoga methodology will help alleviate many side effects caused by cancer treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, and reconstruction.  The methodology will also support physical and emotional needs by stimulating the immune system through movement, and this in turn will provide increased strength, improved flexibility, and reduced stress and anxiety.  This style of yoga will bring calmness and boost overall well being.  

Tari is a master yoga teacher and she has been offering Y4C (yoga for cancer) training for the past 14 years.  In her perspective, this Y4C methodology is a unique approach that is beyond gentle yoga or restorative yoga and stimulates lymphatic drainage and strengthens the immune system.

Yoga for improving quality of life for cancer patients and survivors

Yoga when used with conventional treatments may help relieve and manage some of the symptoms of cancer and other medical conditions.

-Help minimize the stress and fatigue associated with treatments.
-Help survivors with the less-stressful low impact activity to maintain a balanced exercise regimen.
